Brightening Products Staff Review

Pretty much all of our staff at La Cosmetique are skincare junkies, so ask any one of our employees on their opinion about a product and you'll get all the info you need and more. We asked employee Anna Chung about her opinion on some of these brightening serums and which ones she recommends!

Goodal Vita - C Dark Spot Care Serum

The Vita C Dark Spot Care Serum by Goodal is a mild serum that brightens dark spots, blemishes, evens out skin tone in as fast as two weeks. It contains freshly picked Jeju green tangerines extracted from an eco-friendly process. Additionally, it is enriched with 70% of green tangerine extract to deliver brightening benefits and is formulated with 2x more Niacinamide than the existing version for a more effective brightening effect. It is free of 18 harmful ingredients and is cruelty free.

Anna's Review

This helped reduce my blemishes and scars by a lot and this new bottle design makes my skincare routine feel more luxurious. Compared to the past formula this version has the same texture when it’s applied but it feels more moisturising which I love! I have uneven skin-tone and within about 2 weeks I saw that my skin looked brighter and I had the effortless glass skin look.

 

Goodal Vita - C Dark Spot Care Cream with SPF 50+ PA++++

 

 

The Vita-C Dark Spot Care Cream with SPF 50 by Goodal is a very refreshing sunscreen that offers dark spot care and leaves no whitecast on the skin. This product offers strong UV protection with a high SPF of 50+ PA++++ and is enriched with 3% green tangerine extract + 2% Niacinamide to brighten dark spots. Additionally, this sunscreen has a moisturising serum with bursting capsules containing UV filters and active ingredients. This product is cruelty free, it’s suitable for all skin types and has completed the irritation test, so it's perfect for sensitive skin.

For both of the Goodal products, it's a lot more effective to use the Goodal Vita-C Dark Spot Care Cream together! You would be delivering more brightening benefits to your skin as it has 67% of green tangerine extract and you’d be adding extra hydration as well.

The Goodal Sun Cream gives a nice healthy glow to the skin, it's really lightweight and it doesn't leave a white cast. Additionally, the formula’s hydrating and soothing which is great if you especially have dry and sensitive skin. If you're looking to treat your blemishes and dark spots while wearing a lightweight sunscreen, I highly recommend this sun cream!

 

Some By Mi Yuja Niacin Brightening Toner

 

 

This Yuja Niacin Brightening Toner by Some by Mi that works to improve the appearance of blemishes and dark spots, leaving the skin soft, smooth and even-toned. This product is formulated with 90% Korean yuja extract to lighten and moisturise your skin, leaving it with a healthy glow. This is possible as the toner is infused with 5% Niacinamide, Glutathione and Arbutin to correct uneven skin tone,prevent moisture loss and regulate the production of melanin. Additionally, this toner contains 12 types of vitamins to nourish and energise, stressed and dull skin. This product is suited for all skin types and especially acne-prone and sensitive skin.

This toner is an amazing way to boost my skin and make it look brighter after cleansing in the morning. It has a refreshing scent and absorbs into my skin like a sponge! It helped my acne heal without any scarring, lightened pre-existing pigmentation and prevented any further acne from forming. Using this in conjunction with the other products from the same range made a significant improvement to any of my hypermentation issues.

 

Some By Mi Yuja Niacin Blemish Care Serum

 

 

Another Some By Mi product, the Yuja Niacin Blemish Care Serum aims to diminish the appearance of blemishes and dark spots in just 30 days. It revitalises and improves the skin’s texture for a vibrant, smooth and healthy complexion. This product is formulated with 82% of Korean yuja extract, Glutathione, Arbutin and 5% Niacinamide to brighten, moisturise and prevent melanin pigment production in the skin. Additionally, this serum contains 12 types of vitamins to revitalise dull and stressed skin, and has anti-wrinkle benefits as well. This product is suitable for all skin types and skin concerns such as sensitive skin and blackheads, and this serum has a lightweight texture that doesn’t leave a sticky residue.

Anna's Review

This serum has a sweet and lemony scent when you apply which feels refreshing and relaxing for morning and night. It also sits really well under my makeup and there’s no oily/ sticky residue after its been absorbed and patted in. If you don't like the scent, the scent doesn’t linger for a long time and is only there when you initially apply it.

 

Medi-peel Glutathione White Ampoule

 

 

This is an intense whitening ampoule by Medi-peel helps get rid of uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation and freckles. The Glutathione White Ampoule is concentrated with glutathione, which gives an instant whitening effect, controls melanin enzymes and prevents freckles and pigmentation. Additionally this ampoule is formulated with 10 vitamin extracts to improve your complexion and provide your skin with nutrition and moisture. This product is suitable for all skin types, even for acne-prone skin.

I wanted to try the brand Medi-peel as I heard that their products are used in skin clinics. This is one of the most potent and effective products for brightening dull skin and scars. This is an absolute holy grail because of its antioxidant ingredient and plus it has peptides in it as well! It absorbs so easily into my skin and a little goes a long way. Not only did this lighten my dark pigmentations, it added more hydration in my skincare!

 

Medi-peel Glutathione White Silky Toner

This Medi-peel toner is a double brightening toner. The Glutathione White Silky Toner with 84% glutathione water instead of just purified water, Niacinamide and patented “MadeWhite” (centella asiatica) to boost skin vitality and radiance. Additionally this toner creates an instant radiant effect as the first step of the skincare routine and has a synergistic combination of 10 vitamins and brightening complex. This product is ideal for all skin types at any age.

Anna's Review

This toner is great to use straight after cleansing as it adds extra hydration to my skin as well as boost radiance and vitality in my skin. Using this in conjunction with the white glutathione ampoule from the same range, this toner as well as its range has proven to help lighten my acne scars effectively. This toner also feels mild and doesn't strip my skin at all.

 

Medi-peel Derma Maison Vitabenone Brightening Capture Cream

Derma Maison is a derma-cosmetic brand for both professional and home use. The Vitabenone Brightening Capture Cream is a brightening cream with Vitabenone to give vitality and create a clear, vibrant skin tone for dull skin. This product features Idebenin and 5 kinds of vitamin liposome capsules to boost radiance and make it brighter by suppressing the production of melanin pigments and treating spots, blemishes and pigmented areas. Additionally, Idebenone is proven to reduce signs of aging, decrease inflammation as well as it works as a potent synthetic antioxidant that protects the skin against free radical damage. This product is suitable for all skin types and even aging skin.

I love how this cream is not only very moisturising and very effective in brightening, but it also is formulated with Idebenone which has helped reduce my fine lines around my eyes and forehead from smiling. Additionally my skin’s hydration levels as well as pigmentation on my cheeks have been improved and I love how this cream gives my skin a natural healthy glow!

 

Medi-peel Derma Maison Vitabenone Brightening Ampoule

 

 

This ampoule is also by Derma Maison, and is a premium esthetic brightening product that is used before the moisturiser. The Vitabenone Brightening Ampoule and takes care of dull complexion with the synergy of idebenone and 10 types of vitamins. Additionally, this product is formulated with 7 types of hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and the idebenone ingredient prevents skin aging and promotes firmer skin. This ampoule is recommended for those with a dull skin tone, loss of radiance, uneven skin texture, aging skin and is suited for all skin types.

Anna's Review

I recommend using the ampoule in conjunction with the Brightening Capture Cream as it will be more effective in brightening dull skin and pigmentation. While using this ampoule, I felt that i didn't need to reapply any extra moisturiser throughout the day and even by using it at night, my skin feels so hydrated and revitalised the next day. In other words, the hydration lasted all-day and my skin looks much brighter and clearer.

 

RNW Der. Concentrate Niacinamide Plus

 

 

Der. Concentrate Niacinamide Plus is a brightening ampoule by RNW that is packed with 5% Niacinamide and Tranexamic acid (100ppm) to effectively lighten dull, darkened skin. This product is enriched with glutathione and ascorbyl glucoside using RNW technology to keep the skin healthy. This product has a light and fresh texture that can easily be absorbed and it is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin.

Review I have sensitive skin and this product helped brighten my dark spots and freckles without any irritation as it doesn’t have any fragrance or irritants. When first applied I could see that my skin was instantly brighter and more radiant. This absorbs fast and really easily as well without feeling tacky. A little goes a long way and after a whole week of consistent use, I could see that my skin condition has improved and my skin’s overall texture and tone has improved.

 

Manyo Galac Niacin 2.0 Essence

Finally, we have the Galac Niacin 2.0 Essence by Manyo. This is a highly functional brightening essence that contains concentrated Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate and double the amount of brightening substance which improves skin tone and brightness, and ultimately restore the skin’s original glow. Compared to the first generation Galactomy Essence (Niacinamide content), this product features Galactomyces Ferment extract and 2x brightening substances and 4% Niacinamide to help improve the skin texture and its tone while giving hydrating benefits and improving enlarged pores. This product is suitable for all skin types, especially for those with skin issues such as eczema, rosacea and sensitive skin.

Anna's Review

I love how this product is cruelty free and it's perfect for my sensitive skin. I like to switch around essences to try different formulas, but whenever my skin has a reaction, I feel like this is the most non-irritant and safe option for my skin's barrier. Much like the RNW Niacinamide plus, the essence absorbs so quickly and doesn't leave a sticky residue. After use, I could see that my skin is a lot smoother and plumper. Additionally, I love how this product uses safe-for-the-environment ingredients and it’s also vegan!

 

Conclusion

All of these products are very effective in not only functioning to brighten dull skin, dark spots and freckles, it also provides deep hydration and repairs the skin’s barrier. Additionally, some of these products have anti-aging and anti-wrinkle products as well as the formulas to even rough and uneven skin texture. If you’re looking for a brightening product specifically for extremely sensitive skin and is free of animal ingredients, I would definitely go for the Manyo Galac Niacin 2.0 Essence or the RNW Der. Concentrate Niacinamide Plus.
