If there's one step Korean skincare never skips, it's cleansing. And if there's one brand that has made cleansing its signature, it's Beplain.
In this guide, we'll show you how to use the recipe as a simple Korean double cleansing routine, step by step.
Meet Beplain
Since 2018, Beplain has been part of Korea's clean beauty movement, with a simple, minimalist approach to skincare.
At the heart of the brand is the humble mung bean, an ingredient used in Korea for generations to gently wash the skin. Beplain built its signature cleansing line around it, and the Mung Bean Cleansing Foam went on to win a Top 2 award in the Cleansing category at Olive Young, Korea's biggest beauty retailer, in 2025.
What Is Korean Double Cleansing?
Double cleansing simply means washing your face in two steps.
- An oil cleanser melts away sunscreen, makeup and excess oil.
- A foam cleanser removes sweat, dirt and anything left behind.
Oil dissolves oil, so a cleansing oil breaks down long-wear sunscreen and makeup that a foam alone can miss. The foam then leaves your skin properly clean and ready for the rest of your routine.
If you wear sunscreen every day (and in Australia, you should), double cleansing at night is one of the easiest habits to pick up.

The Filter Skin Detox Recipe at a Glance
Beplain's recipe adds one more step to the classic double cleanse:
- Every day: Step 1 Cleansing Oil + Step 2 Cleansing Foam
- Every 2 to 3 days: add Step 3 Pore Clay Mask for a deeper pore detox
Step 1: Mung Bean Cleansing Oil

Best for: All skin types, including sensitive skin
- Lightweight formula: emulsifies into a milky texture and removes even stubborn makeup, leaving a non-greasy, dewy finish.
- Kind to sensitive skin: Whole Mung Bean Complex, Allantoin and Panthenol help keep skin moisturised and protect the skin barrier after cleansing.
- No fragrance or essential oils, and gentle around the eyes with an eye irritation test completed.
- Non-comedogenic test completed.
How to use: Apply to your face and massage gently. Add a few drops of water and keep massaging for about 30 seconds until the oil turns milky, then rinse.
Prefer a balm? Try the Pore Cleansing Milk Balm for dry or sensitive skin, or the Pore Grinding Cleansing Balm for oily skin and visible pores.
Step 2: Mung Bean pH-Balanced Cleansing Foam

Best for: All skin types, including acne-prone and sensitive skin
- Soothing daily cleanser: Mung Bean extract and powder cleanse deeply without drying the skin, leaving it refreshed and hydrated.
- Deep pore cleansing: removes makeup, sebum and ultrafine dust while preserving the skin's natural protective barrier.
- Gentle pH of 5.5 to 6.5, so it works softly on the skin.
- Non-comedogenic test completed.
How to use: Rinse off the oil, then work the foam into a rich lather and wash your face. Rinse thoroughly.
Step 3: Mung Bean Pore Clay Mask (Every 2 to 3 Days)

Best for: Oily skin, blackheads, whiteheads and clogged pores
- Deep pore detox: a blend of 6 clay powders in different particle sizes clings to the skin, absorbing excess sebum and drawing out impurities.
- Purify and brighten: Whole Mung Bean Complex helps purify the skin and leave it looking clear and refreshed.
- Non-drying, smooth texture: a bouncy, moisturising formula that won't crack as it dries. Mung Bean Enzyme and Powder gently exfoliate dead skin cells trapped in pores.
How to use: After cleansing, apply over your face. Massage in circles, focusing on clogged pores, for about 3 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
Prefer a peeling gel? The Mung Bean Milk Peeling Gel gently lifts away dead skin for smoother-feeling skin.
After Cleansing: Prep Your Skin
Swipe a Mung Bean Pore Clearing Filter Pad over your face to pick up any leftover residue, or follow with the Mung Bean Pore Scaling Water before the rest of your routine.
